General description

The objective of the Challenges-Collaboration call is to support experimental development projects in cooperation between companies and research organizations, in order to promote the development of new technologies, the business application of new ideas and techniques, and contribute to the creation of new products and services.

Specific goals and activities financed
The call for R + D + I Projects «Collaboration Challenges» aims to advance the incorporation of scientific-technical knowledge and results that allow the validation and precompetitive development of new technologies, products and services, creating the appropriate context to stimulate, in accordance with the priorities established in the Challenges, the generation of a critical mass in R & D & I of an interdisciplinary nature for its application, transfer, search for solutions and generation of results both in the technological and innovation trajectories of companies such as in the market. Likewise, these projects aim to mobilize private investment, generate employment and improve the country's technological balance, as well as strengthen the international leadership capacity of the Spanish System of Science Technology and Innovation and its agents, contributing to improve the competitiveness of the business network.

Beneficiaries
a) Public research organizations defined in article 47 of the Law of Science.

b) Public universities, their university institutes, in accordance with the provisions of Organic Law 6/2001, of December 21, on Universities, which are registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees, created by Royal Decree 1509 / 2008, of September 12, which regulates the Registry of Universities, Centers and Degrees.

c) Accredited health research institutes in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 279/2016, of June 24, and complementary regulations.

d) Other public R & D & I centers, with their own legal personality, that in their statutes or in the regulations that regulate them or in their corporate purpose have R + D + i as their main activity.

e) State-level technology centers and state-level technological innovation support centers validly registered at the time of filing the application in the register of centers regulated by Royal Decree 2093/2008, of December 19, by the that the Technological Centers and the Technological Innovation Support Centers at the state level are regulated and the Registry of such Centers is created.

f) Private universities with demonstrated capacity and activity in R&D.

g) Private R & D & I centers, with their own legal personality and non-profit that are defined in their statutes or in the regulations that regulate them or in their corporate purpose to R + D + i as the main activity.

h) Companies, understanding as such any commercial company, regardless of its legal form, which regularly exercises an economic activity aimed at the market. Only those companies whose constitution or start of activity has taken place prior to the first day of the month prior to the date of publication of the extract of this call in the "Official State Gazette" may acquire status.

i) Sectorial business associations. Economic interest groups (IEA) may not be beneficiaries of these grants. Only business associations, whose constitution or start of activity has taken place prior to the first day of the month prior to the date of publication of the extract of this call in the "Official State Gazette", may acquire status.
