General description

These grants are aimed at promoting the incorporation of national and foreign researchers with an outstanding career in R&D centres by means, on the one hand, of the granting of aid for their employment and, on the other hand, the granting of aid for the creation of permanent jobs for their subsequent incorporation among the agents of the Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation System benefitting from these aids.

Candidates must meet the requirements of being doctors and having obtained a doctorate between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2016 for the general access call and for RYC-INIA-CCAA researchers, and between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2014 for people with disabilities equal to or greater than 33 percent unless they prove a cause of interruption in accordance with the call.

The screening is based on a rigorous process of competitive tender of candidates on the basis of their curricular merits and their ability to lead a line of research, according to the scientific and professional experience as well as the independence of their career.

Specific goals and activities financed
A maximum of 200 five-year grants for the recruiting of doctors by the Spanish R&D centres. The aid, whose annual amount is of 33.720 Euros, is intended to co-finance the salary and the contribution to the Social Security system of the researchers hired, also granting an additional aid of 40.000 Euros, to be executed during all the period of the grant, to cover the expenses directly related to the execution of their research activities. Additionally, there is an aid for the creation of permanent jobs by the agencies, which will consist of a provision of 100.000 Euros for each position.

Beneficiaries
Public research organizations as defined in article 47 of Law 14/2011, of June 1, public universities, their departments and university institutes, and private universities with demonstrated R&D&i capacity and activity, in accordance with the provisions of Organic Law 6/2001. Other public R&D centres: Public bodies and centres with their own legal personality that are dependent on or linked to the General State Administration, and those dependent on or linked to territorial public administrations and their agencies. Public and private non-profit health entities and institutions, linked to or arranged with the National Health System. Non-profit public and private entities that carry out R&D activities. Technological Centres of a national scope that are registered, on the date of presentation of the application, in the register of centres created by Royal Decree 2093/2008.
