General description

The Juan de la Cierva-training aids aim to encourage the recruiting of young doctors for a period of two years in order to complete their postdoctoral research training in Spanish R&D centres other than those in which they completed their pre-doctoral education.

Candidates must meet the requirements of being doctors and having obtained a doctorate between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2019 for the general access call and for FJC-INIA-CCAA researches, and between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2019 for people with disabilities equal to or greater than 33 percent unless they prove a cause of interruption in accordance with the call.

The participation requests are presented by the R&D centres, including the candidate researchers for the purpose of their incorporation into the research teams. The screening is based on a competitive competition process of the candidates, on the basis of their curricular merits, and on the scientific-technical record of the research team which they wish to join, with special relevance given to the merits bearing on the tutor researcher.

Specific goals and activities financed

The offering of a maximum of 225 two-year grants for the recruiting of doctors by the Spanish R&D centres, out of which 4 grants are reserved for the hiring of doctors who participate in the call for people with a disability equal to or greater than 33 percent and 5 for the FJC-INI-CCA researchers. The aid, whose annual amount is 25.000 Euros, is used to co-finance the salary and the employer's contribution to the social security of the researchers hired during each of the annuities.

Beneficiaries

Public research organizations as defined in article 47 of Law 14/2011, of June 1, public universities, their departments and university institutes, and private universities with proven R&D&i capacity and activity, in accordance with the provisions of Organic Law 6/2001. Other public R&D centres: Public entities and centres with their own legal personality that are dependent on or linked to the General State Administration, and those dependent on or linked to territorial public administrations and their agencies. Public and private non-profit health entities and institutions linked to the National Health System. Non-profit public and private entities that carry out R&D activities. Technological Centres of national scope are registered, at the date of presentation of the application, in the Register of Centres created by Royal Decree 2093/2008.
