General description

The purpose of these grants is to encourage the recruitment of technical support personnel in R&D Centres; they are intended to support the management of equipment, facilities and other R&D&i infrastructures for increasing and improving the performance of scientific-technological infrastructures.

The qualification required is that of a graduate, engineer, architect, technical engineer, technical architect or higher technician within the framework of professional training of the educational system.

Applications for participation are presented by the R&D centres and include the candidate technicians. The screening is based on a process of competitive concurrence, the criteria for evaluating the applications being as follows: 1) the impact of the action on the degree of R&D&i activity of the infrastructure; 2) the curricular merits of the candidate and 3) Relevance of R&D service activities provided by the entity. The scales that apply to these criteria are from 0 to 50, 0 to 30 and from 0 to 20 points, respectively.

Specific goals and activities financed

Grants for a maximum amount of 7.020.000 Euros, of which a maximum amount of 126.000 Euros is reserved for the recruiting of people with a disability equal to or greater than 33 percent. The duration of the grants is of three years for the employment of technicians by R&D Centres. The annual amount of aid varies according to the different degree, and is 14.000 Euros per year for a graduate, engineer, architect, technical engineer or technical architect and 12.000 Euros per year for senior technicians within the framework of the professional training of the educational system. In any case, it is intended for co-financing the salary and the contribution to the Social Security system of the technicians hired during each of the annuities.

Beneficiaries

Public research organizations as defined in article 47 of Law 14/2011, of June 1 Public universities, their departments and university institutes, and private universities with proven R&D&i capacity and activity, in accordance with the provisions of Organic Law 6/2001. Other public R&D centres: Public bodies and centres with their own legal personality that are dependent on or linked to the General State Administration, and those dependent on or linked to territorial public administrations and their agencies. Public and private non-profit health entities and institutions, linked to or arranged with the National Health System. Non-profit public and private entities that carry out R&D activities. Technological Centres of a national scope that are registered, in the date of presentation of the application, in the register of centres created by Royal Decree 2093/2008.
