The purpose of these grants is to promote the incorporation and retention in agencies of the Spanish System of Science, Technology and Innovation of research personnel, both Spanish and foreign, with an outstanding trajectory in order to acquire the competences and capacities that allow them to obtain a stable position in a research agency, facilitating the start of a line of research by financing their own R+D+I project and encouraging the creation of permanent places in secondment institutions.
It is also intended to encourage the participation of people who obtain aid under the Ramon y Cajal programme in the calls for proposals of the European Research Council (ERC), through an increase in aid for the hiring of the person who holds the Ramon y Cajal aid, as well as through the financing of an aid through the call for aid to "Europe Excellence" projects of the State Research Agency.
In addition, the granting of the Ramón y Cajal aid will allow the obtaining of the R3 certificate as an established researcher, in accordance with the provisions of article 22.2 of the Law on Science, Technology and Innovation.
