Within the framework of the PRTR and the Aerospace PERTE, CDTI is promoting the development, qualification and demonstration of a small satellite launcher that is capable of successfully penetrating the international market of launchers in the space sector. Europe does not currently have any operational launcher for the orbit of primary payloads (satellites) of between 300 and 800 kg of mass. Satellite launches for low-altitude orbits (LEO) and with masses in those ranges are in high demand because the satellite market of these characteristics is rapidly expanding, and because of the specific characteristics in terms of launch dates and orbital injection. It is, therefore, a market segment for expanding launchers that requires special attention in Europe, and that is not covered by European launchers.

Preliminary market consultation

The purpose of this consultation is to promote the participation of economic operators active in the market in the presentation of innovative proposals aimed at responding to the technological challenge of small satellite launchers.
