National Innovation Award “Professionals”
A pioneer of Spanish design, the work of Marisa Gallén continues to convey the same freshness and confidence that when in 1984 she founded, together with ten other partners, the design studio La Nave. With a professional orientation very focused on graphic design, he highlights his ability to imbue design and art in his projects, even recognizing that he does not mind changing his discipline when a project requires it. “I think that’s how the disciplines enrich each other,” says Gallén. For more than 18 years she has been the creator of the graphic image of the Festival of Contemporary Music ‘Ensems’.
Marisa Gallén highlights her firm commitment to sustainability from the beginning of her professional activity and her cultural involvement, transmitting to society the values of design in improving the quality of life. “Designing is thinking, it is about solving problems in a creative way based on the analysis of reality and empathy with the user,” says Gallén.
He defines himself as a sensible person, who tends to elegance and skill in his work and who considers that design in the modern era “has lived in a scenario without limits, an ally in generating the consumer society”. Something totally opposed to post-crisis design, where the “design committed to sustainability” is located, the basis of their creations.
Currently, Marisa Gallén directs the studio Gallén+Ibáñez together with the designer Carmina Ibáñez.
