Controlled test environments (SandBoxes)

In the field of innovation and technology, the term sandbox refers to a secure, controlled environment where new technologies, services or business models can be tested and experimented on without affecting users or the market in general. A sandbox provides a structured context for experimentation, allowing innovative technologies, products, services or approaches to be tested in real situations over a specific period and sector and under regulatory supervision.

The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has published a sandbox guide with the objective of facilitating knowledge about safe regulatory testing environments, and providing, in an accessible way, guidelines and rules so that public officials can implement a sandbox safely and effectively. In addition, innovation agents will be offered guidelines and examples of the benefits and opportunities associated with these environments.
