Sub-directorate General of European Funds for research, innovation and the university environment

The Sub-directorate General of European Funds for Research and Innovation, attached to the Under-Secretariat, has the following functions:

• The development of the necessary actions for the economic and budgetary planning and programming related to the Plans and Programs at European level. In particular, those aimed at economic, social and territorial cohesion, in the field of research, development and innovation of the Ministry, as well as the related coordination and management functions.
• Coordination of the Ministry’s financial bodies and public bodies for the management of Plans and Programmes financed by European Union funds within the scope of the Ministry’s competences.
• The monitoring and evaluation of the European plans and programmes over which it exercises powers. This includes the justification for the implementation of fund releases, in collaboration with the other bodies with competence in the field.
• Carrying out studies and reports in relation to the financial economic management of the application of European funds in the field of research, development and innovation, based on the analysis of statistical operations and other available sources.
