General Subdirectorate of Large Scientific and Technical Installations

The General Sub-Directorate of Large Scientific and Technical Facilities, under the General Directorate of Research Planning, focuses its activities on the following:

• The management of operational programmes co-financed by European Union funds, within the scope of their competences.

• Strategic planning, coordination, monitoring and representation of large national scientific and technical facilities with autonomous communities, and strategic planning, coordination, monitoring and representation of actions related to large scientific facilities of a State nature, without prejudice to the competences of other organs of the department.

• The international representation of large Spanish scientific and technical installations.

• Support for the coordination, promotion and monitoring of polar research, development and innovation, aimed at achieving the objectives and ensuring the application of the provisions of the Antarctic Treaty and other international agreements.
