The version of the Spanish Polar Strategy that is submitted to public information has been prepared on the initiative of the Spanish Polar Committee and under its coordination. It has been drafted with the participation of two groups of experts composed of representatives of most ministerial departments and various entities linked to the polar field.
The sequential work of these two groups allowed the elaboration of a draft that was finally approved by the Spanish Polar Committee at its 43rd meeting, held on June 15, 2026.
The purpose of the Spanish Polar Strategy is to establish a road map that guides and coordinates the action of the Spanish institutions in the polar regions. What happens in the polar zones has consequences all over the Earth and what happens in the rest of the Earth is greatly amplified in these territories.
Participation in this public information process may be carried out through the questionnaire that the Ministry makes available to all interested persons and entities. The participation period will remain open from 20 July until 14 August 2026.
