The Carlos III National Centre for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC) is an internationally recognised research centre of excellence dedicated to improving our understanding of the fundamentals of cardiovascular health and disease and transferring this knowledge to patients. It is managed by a public foundation of the same name, attached to the Carlos III Institute of Health (ISCIII).
The CNIC's ultimate goal is to ensure that the knowledge generated generates benefits for society and a tangible return for the Spanish public sector. It uses all its resources to transfer research results to clinical practice and the business sector. In this way, it promotes interaction between basic and clinical researchers and is a pioneer in clinical and observational projects with population-based studies, one of the centre's major commitments.
