The Astrophysical Observatory of Javalambre is located at an altitude of 1956 m on the Pico del Buitre in the municipality of Arcos de las Salinas, in the province of Teruel. It is managed by the Centre for the Study of the Physics of the Cosmos of Aragon. It is designed to perform large multi-filter mapping of the greatest scientific interest in the fields of astrophysics and cosmology.
The observatory has two telescopes:
- JST250, Javalambre Survey Telescope, with an aperture of 2.55 m and a field of view of 3º.
- JAST80, Javalambre Auxiliary Survey Telescope, with an aperture of 83 cm and a field of view of 2°.
