The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU) participates in Future4Alliances (F4A), a European project aimed at strengthening national and regional support for European University Alliances and contributing to their consolidation and long-term sustainability.
Future4Alliances is developed within the framework of Erasmus+ and addresses two key areas for the future of the initiative: the creation of a more favourable national and regional environment for the development of the Alliances of European Universities and the improvement of the national and regional funding models and mechanisms that support its activity.
The project aims to promote the exchange of experiences between participating countries, identify good practices and develop public policy and funding recommendations that can be transferred to the respective national higher education systems. This orientation towards the national implementation of the results is one of the central elements of the project.
Participation of MICIU
The participation of the Ministry will allow to share the Spanish experience in supporting European Alliances and contrast it with the models developed by other European States, with special attention to issues such as the sustainability of its financing, the elimination of barriers to its operation and the coordination between European and national policies of higher education.
This participation is directly connected to the actions already developed by MICIU to support the presence of Spanish universities in the European Alliances, including complementary national funding for participating universities. The Ministry itself identifies internationalization, the strengthening of the European dimension and structural cooperation between universities as objectives of this policy.
Future4Alliances desarrollará actividades de peer learning, análisis comparado e intercambio de experiencias entre las autoridades e instituciones participantes. The results of this work will serve to formulate proposals aimed at improving the operating conditions and sustainability of the Alliances of European Universities.
The participation of the MICIU will allow us to transfer to these works the needs and experiences of the Spanish University System and, at the same time, assess the possible application in Spain of solutions and good practices developed in other European systems.
