What is the ENIC-NARIC network?
The NARIC (National Academic Recognition Information Centres) network was established in 1984 at the initiative of the European Commission. It is made up of national centres from EU, EEA and partner countries.
The European Network of Information Centres (ENIC) network was established by the Council of Europe and UNESCO in 1994.
Currently 56 countries are part of the ENIC-NARIC network.
What objective does it have?
Its main objective is to facilitate the implementation of the Joint Convention of the Council of Europe and UNESCO on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education in the European Region (coe.int) (Lisbon Convention, 1997).
Who does it depend on and what function does it have?
The NARIC Spain centre is attached to the National Office for Academic and Professional Recognition of Foreign University Diplomas (NARIC) of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. It provides information on the processes of homologation, equivalence and professional recognition in Spain and in other countries in the field of higher education. NARIC does not answer queries about the status of pending dossiers.
In addition, it acts as a point of contact and advice for students, educational institutions and employers on the recognition of foreign qualifications.
In addition, the ENIC-NARIC network promotes international mobility and the exchange of good practices in the field of recognition of qualifications and competences.
Who can you help?
- To individuals with foreign qualifications: information on the procedures of homologation, equivalence and professional recognition of their qualification in Spain.
- To individuals with a Spanish qualification: general information on the recognition of their qualification abroad.
- A higher education institutions: information regarding the official status and academic level of a foreign degree.
- To administrations and information centres: general information on procedures and regulations in relation to the recognition of qualifications in Spain and abroad.
