Certificado R3

Law 14/2011, of 1 June, on Science, Technology and Innovation, amended by Law 17/2022, of 5 September, states that research personnel may obtain an R3 certificate as an established researcher, which will be recognized in the selective processes of new stable entry personnel that are convened by universities, by Public Research Agencies and other research agencies of the General State Administration, by research agencies of other Public Administrations, including centers of the National Health System or linked or concluded with it and foundations and consortiums of biomedical research as well as public sector.

The R3 certificate will be taken into account for the purposes of its evaluation as investigative merits in said selective processes, and will be projected on the tests or evaluation phases of the curriculum of the investigative staff that is part of these processes, so that it will have effects of exemption or compensation of part of the tests or evaluation phases of curricula or equivalents, for all Public Administrations.

The competent body for the evaluation of the quality requirements of the production and scientific-technological activity established for the R3 certificate as established researcher is the State Research Agency.

The purpose of this action is to assess the career of national and foreign researchers within the framework of a postdoctoral pathway of access to the Spanish System of Science, Technology and Innovation, in order to recognize their quality and research independence and, complying with the European profile of established researcher (R3), obtaining the R3 certification as an established researcher.
