Carmen Ayuso García, National Gregorio Marañón Research Award in Medicine and Health Sciences
Carmen Ayuso is an associate professor in the medical department of the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), scientific director of the Health Research Institute of the Jiménez Díaz Foundation and head of the medical genetics department of the Foundation.
He has received the Award for his brilliant and recognized research career, oriented to genetic, epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic research in rare diseases, including discoveries of new genes and pathogenic mechanisms. It has helped to make genetics visible as a medical specialty and to transform the approach to diseases with a translational vision, meeting the challenges of personalized and precision medicine.
