Diego Areso Nieva stands out for his contribution to editorial and graphic design in Spain and the impact of his work on the digital transformation of the written press. It also highlights its teaching and informative work and how it has contributed to train new generations of graphic and editorial design professionals in Spain.
With more than twenty years of experience, he has been an essential figure in the relationship between the visual transformation of newspapers and magazines and the great social transformations of the digital era in Spain and Latin America, thanks to his outstanding ability to provide graphic identity to reference media and his innovative vision of information architecture.
As deputy director and art director of EL PAÍS and responsible for the design of its supplements and magazines, Areso has led important redesign processes that have marked a trend in the sector, thanks to a determined commitment to the integration between content and form, and his defense that design is also information. His career includes important positions in Condé Nast Mexico and Latin America, where he redesigned headboards such as Vogue, Glamour, GQ, AD and Vanity Fair. He was also Head of Public Design and Art Director at S Moda, PlayStation, Xtreme-Supergames and MAN.
