Technology Centres and Technology Innovation Support Centres

Technological Centers at the state level are those non-profit entities, legally constituted and resident in Spain, that are created in order to contribute to the general benefit of society and to the improvement of the competitiveness of companies through the generation of technological knowledge, carrying out R+D+I activities and developing its application. The activity of the centres has proved essential for the technological and industrial development of Spanish SMEs.

In the case of State Technology Innovation Support Centres, they will be created with the aim of facilitating the application of the knowledge generated in research bodies, including technology centres, through their intermediation between them and companies, providing innovation support services.

REGISTER OF TECHNOLOGY CENTRES AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION SUPPORT CENTRES

Royal Decree 2093/2008, of December 19, regulates Technology Centers (TC) and Technology Innovation Support Centers (CAIT) at the state level and creates an informative and voluntary public registry that can be consulted in the Directory of Technology Centers and Technology Innovation Support Centers.

This Register strengthens the institutional framework to have agents that are increasingly dynamic and flexible, with strong capacities in industrial research, experimental development and innovation, with an entrepreneurial and creative culture, capable of accompanying companies in their internationalization and that allow, through cooperation and learning, the capitalization of knowledge and the generation of value, acting effectively in the Spanish system of science and technology.

Membership of this Register entitles its members to be beneficiaries of funding lines for the Spanish R&D&I ecosystem, as is the case of the Cervera Grants for Technology Centers instrument.

CERVERA GRANTS FOR TECHNOLOGY CENTRES

The purpose of this program is to strengthen the technological centers that develop applied research in Spain, as well as its tractor role in the whole of the Spanish System of Science, Technology and Innovation.

In particular, it aims to strengthen the capacities of these centres in strategic technologies (Cervera priority technologies) through networking, as well as to foster their capacity to collaborate with different agents, especially companies, in these technologies.
