The National Center for Genomic Analysis (CNAG) specializes in sequencing and genomic analysis, located in the Barcelona Science Park. It began its work in 2010, becoming the first national sequencing center and one of the most pioneering at European level, promoted by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Since 2022 it is a public consortium and co-financed equally by the General Administration of the State and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Its main mission is to develop genomic analysis projects with a high impact on improving the health and quality of life of people, in collaboration with national and international health institutions and research centers. At the infrastructure level, the institution has the most cutting-edge and most powerful genomic technology on the market.
Each year, it promotes more than 900 research projects, giving access to sequencing and genomic analysis to the national R&D&I system, which involves close collaboration with hospitals and medical institutions. His commitment to people and the advancement of medicine is one of the main drivers of his sustainability strategy. Therefore, the center offers the highest quality standards accredited through the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
In this way, CNAG has the UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 certification of its quality management system and the UNE-EN ISO/IEC ISO 17025:2017 accreditation, which guarantees its competence in tests. In addition, the institution also has the BBMRI ERIC (European Research Infrastructure for Biobanking and Biomolecules) recognition, as an expert center in the analysis of biological samples that generates primary data under internationally standardized conditions.
On a collaborative level, since 2014, it has been part of the map of Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructure, within the Infrastructure for Omics Technologies (OmicsTech), thus facilitating researchers to have greater access to these technologies, promoting greater tools for biomolecular analysis and providing a holistic view of biological processes.
