The ESS Bilbao Consortium is a public consortium co-financed by the General Administration of the State and the Basque Government. It is constituted, on the one hand, as the Spanish headquarters of the European Spallation Source (ESS) and, on the other, as an independent research center specialized in the development of science and technology in the field of particle acceleration.
Its activities focus on:
- Channeling Spain’s contributions to ESS-ERIC during the construction phase of the European Spallation Source in Lund (Sweden). They are currently working on various work packages as part of that contribution.
- Promote the generation of knowledge in neutron technologies in a broad sense, from accelerator to target and instruments.
- To achieve excellence in the fields of science and neutron technologies, occupying a position as a center of international prestige.
