This LRB is one of the University of Barcelona's Science and Technology Centres (CCiT). Situated in a 722 m2 space in the modular building of the Barcelona Science Park, it is specially designed to house high-field NMR spectrometers with a vibration-free and thermally regulated environment to ensure high stability and low magnetic interference. The facility has been in operation since 2000.
It features an extensive set of instruments with diverse fields and configurations and offers access to laboratories for the expression and purification of tagged proteins and the possibility of integrating NMR with numerous other experimental techniques at the University of Barcelona's CCiTs.
NMR is used to analyse a broad range of areas such as the structure and dynamics of biomolecules, functional biology (in vivo NMR), drug identification and optimisation in pharmaceutical research, including drug release, structural identification in organic and inorganic chemistry, food technology and new materials. The LRB works continuously to develop new methodologies to optimise the performance of the available instrumentation and facilitate, together with the users, the development and implementation of new applications.
