The Center for Environmental and Technological Energy Research (CIEMAT) participates in the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) and other Latin American HPC networks such as RICAP/SCALAC. It manages the supercomputers Xula (Madrid) and Turgalium (Trujillo). At CIEMAT, more than 1200 experts and professionals work in R&D, and the research lines focus on five major areas: energy, environment, technology, basic research and health. The CIEMAT was created in 1951 and since 1959 it hosts supercomputing infrastructures, being a pioneer in Spain.
This managed network contributes 45% of its computing resources to the RES.
