The Training of University Professors (FPU) grants aim to train doctors by financing predoctoral contracts, so that the beneficiaries carry out the necessary research to present a doctoral thesis and, at the same time, acquire the university teaching skills necessary to join the higher education system.
The grants will finance the conclusion of employment contracts, under the form of a predoctoral contract, as well as the realization of stays in R&D centers and the tuition fees derived from doctoral studies. Likewise, a period of postdoctoral orientation will be financed once the doctoral degree has been obtained, for a maximum period of twelve months, within 4 years, for the improvement and professional specialization of the research staff, provided that the degree is obtained during the period of execution of the aid.
The application for participation is presented by the entity including in them the participating persons. The selection is based on a competitive concurrence process, the criteria for evaluating the applications being the following:
- Academic career (0-75)
- Quality and scientific-technical trajectory of the team in which the performance will be developed (0-25)
- Scientific-technical trajectory of the thesis director (0-10)
- Scientific-technical and formative context of the group in which the action will be carried out (0-15)
