For its application in Defense and Security it is essential that the images captured by the satellites are of very high resolution and that the revisit time of the satellite is small enough to pass through the area of interest several times.
The strategic information provided by a radar element (SAR) and an optical element of very high resolution constitutes decisive support in decision-making and risk estimation for high government authorities on matters of common security and defence policy, foreign policy, border protection, monitoring of migratory crises, prevention and support for natural disasters, among others.
Execution and results
In February 2023, the agreement on pre-commercial procurement of R&D services in the field of satellite earth observation between the Ministry of Defence and the Centre for Technological and Industrial Development (CDTI) was published.
This action will be carried out through Pre-commercial Public Purchase of a prototype by the Ministry of Defense through the Center for Technological and Industrial Development (CDTI).
In December 2022, a preliminary market consultation was carried out, the results of which will serve as a basis for the preparation of the technical specifications for the tender.
