
This programme seeks to deploy a joint research and innovation strategy to address emerging challenges in marine-maritime monitoring and observation, climate change, aquaculture and other sectors of the blue economy in a sustainable manner. In particular, the parties express their willingness to identify, where applicable, as areas of future collaboration for the development of the programme the following lines of action (LA):
- LA-1: Observation and monitoring of the marine and coastal environment.
- LA-2: Sustainable, intelligent and precision aquaculture.
- LA-3: Blue Economy: Innovation and opportunities.
The programme was initially launched with the collaboration of the Autonomous Communities of Galicia, Andalusia, Cantabria, Region of Murcia and Valencia by signing a framework agreement with the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
Subsequently, the Autonomous Communities of the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands joined following the Agreement of the Council for Scientific, Technological and Innovation Policy of 22 June 2022.
