This programme is oriented to the deployment of a joint research and innovation strategy to address in a sustainable way the new challenges in marine-maritime monitoring and observation, climate change, aquaculture and other sectors of the blue economy. In particular, the parties express their willingness to identify, as appropriate, as areas of future collaboration for the development of the Program, the following lines of action (LA):
- LA-1: Observation and monitoring of the marine and coastal environment.
- LA-2: Sustainable, intelligent and accurate aquaculture.
- LA-3: Blue Economy: Innovation and opportunities.
The program was initially launched by the Autonomous Communities of Galicia, Andalusia, Cantabria, Region of Murcia and Comunitat Valenciana, through the signing of a framework agreement with the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
Subsequently, following the Agreement of the Scientific, Technological and Innovation Policy Council of 22 June 2022, the Autonomous Communities of the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands have been incorporated.
