José Cernicharo, National Prize for Research in Physical, Material and Earth Sciences

José Cernicharo Quintanilla has been recognized with the National Research Award in the area of Physical, Material and Earth Sciences for his leadership worldwide in the field of molecular astrophysics and his multidisciplinary contributions that are having a great impact in several areas of physical, chemical and material sciences.

José Cernicharo is a research professor at the Institute of Fundamental Physics of the Higher Council of Scientific Research (IFF-CSIC), and one of the world pioneers of molecular astrophysics. He has been a principal investigator of several national and European projects focusing on laboratory astrophysics and molecular astrophysics.
