The Commission for the Coordination and Monitoring of the Activities of Oceanographic Vessels (COCSABO), created by Order PRE/583/2003, of 13 March, is the collegiate body for the proposal and coordination of scientific or technical actions carried out by oceanographic vessels. It is attached to the General Secretariat of Research of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
It is the responsibility of this Commission:
- The planning of scientific and technical campaigns of oceanographic research vessels, their monitoring and periodic evaluation.
- The analysis of the needs of scientific equipment, technical equipment, research support staff and other resources and means required for carrying out oceanographic campaigns.
- The evaluation of the costs associated with oceanographic campaigns.
