The large international research infrastructures are fundamental tools for the production of frontier science, the promotion of technological developments, the promotion of innovation and the training of scientists and technologists.
Spain actively participates in the construction and operation of large European research infrastructures, either under the aegis of an international body or of the European Strategic Research Infrastructure Forum (ESFRI), which means the realization of strategic investments that contribute to the implementation of national and European priorities in research and innovation and that aim to address the pressing and complex challenges of society.
It is particularly relevant to use the potential of research infrastructures as the main promoters of open science, providing FAIR data (data that comply with the principles of ease of localization, accessibility, interoperability and reuse) and quality, which contribute to the construction of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and reinforce its capabilities at the service of its users.
