The actions carried out by the OI SCI are framed in the thematic objective 1 “To enhance research, technological development and innovation” within the priority axis 1 of the Multiregional Operational Program of Spain (POPE) 2014-2020. These actions are carried out within the following investment priorities:
Investment Priority 1a: Improvement of research and innovation (R&I) infrastructures and the capacity to develop excellence in R&I, and the promotion of centres of competence, especially those of European interest. Within the specific objective O.E.1.1.2 of strengthening R&D institutions and creation, consolidation and improvement of scientific and technological infrastructures, the following lines of action are framed:
- unique scientific and technical infrastructures (ICTS),
- Spanish participation in Large International Scientific and Technological Infrastructures (ESFRI),
- the LifeWatch ERIC (European E-Science Research Infrastructure for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research) actions, based in Spain,
- Scientific and technological infrastructures of the Higher Council of Scientific Research.
Investment Priority 1b: Promoting business-led R&I investment, developing links and synergies between businesses, research and development centres and the higher education sector, in particular by promoting investment in development. Within the specific objective O.E.1.2.1 of promoting and promoting business-led R&I activities, support for the creation and consolidation of innovative companies and support for innovative public procurement, the line of action is framed:
- line promoting innovation from demand and innovative public procurement (CPI).
