The fight against fraud

In its commitment to the protection of the financial interests of the European Union and the use of the funds of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism in accordance with applicable Union and national law, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has adopted various initiatives in the field of prevention, detection and correction of fraud, corruption and conflicts of interest. Among them, it highlights the adoption of an institutional declaration that demonstrates its commitment to the highest standards in compliance with legal, ethical and moral standards and its adherence to the strictest principles of integrity, objectivity and honesty.

In addition, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has a Complaints Box for possible cases of fraud, corruption and conflict of interest, related to actions financed with European Funds (antifraude.mcin@ciencia.gob.es). In accordance with Law 2/2023, of February 20, regulating the protection of people who report on normative infractions and the fight against corruption, in any case the confidentiality of the identity of the informant will be guaranteed and the anonymity of complaints of this nature will be respected, without in any case retaliatory actions, including threats of retaliation and attempts of retaliation, against the people who present a communication.

The National Anti-Fraud Coordination Service is the body under the General State Intervention (IGAE), within the Ministry of Finance, responsible for coordinating actions aimed at protecting the financial interests of the European Union against fraud in collaboration with OLAF.
