National Innovation Award for the “Innovative Trajectory”
Ignacio Sánchez Galán has played a pioneering role in the implementation of renewable energies in our country, positioning the Spanish electricity industry among the most competitive and leading in the world: “Innovation is an attitude to life, it’s like being restless, creative, curious…” he says.
President and CEO of Iberdrola and president of the companies Iberdrola Group in the United Kingdom (ScottishPower), in the United States (Avangrid) and in Brazil (Neoenergia), considers that “innovation is to be permanently observing around us and seeing that things can be done differently, or made better”.
For Sánchez Galán, innovation covers areas such as the formalization of work, processes, human resources management or development and training, among others, thus reaffirming his conviction in the value of people. “The human being is the most important factor in economic activity, and if people are not injected with enthusiasm, optimism, and their capacities are strengthened, the goals are never achieved,” says the director.
