The Centre for Microanalysis of Materials (CMAM) is a research centre belonging to the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), the result of an initial project funded through the FEDER programme, assisted by an Advisory Committee made up of prominent members of the Spanish scientific, cultural and academic community.
The CMAM's main experimental instrument is an electrostatic particle accelerator with a maximum terminal voltage of 5 MV (5 million volts) dedicated to the analysis and modification of materials. The CMAM operates its accelerator through six beamlines coupled with various ancillary scientific tools and laboratory support spaces. The following lines are available for material analysis and modification: Standard Multipurpose Line (STD), External Beam Line (EuB), Time-of-Flight Line (ERDA-TOF), Nuclear Physics Line (NUC), Implantation Line (IMP) and Femtosecond Laser and Internal Beam Line (IuB).
