The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) initiative was launched by the EC in November 2018. The EOSC will consolidate national data infrastructures from 2021 with the aim of providing scientists and technologists with access to data storage, management, analysis and reuse resources through a multidisciplinary approach.
The EOSC will contribute to the Strategic Agenda of Horizon Europe (2021-2027) and will act as the main instrument to drive open science policies in Europe. The first step towards this partnership was the creation of the EOSC Association (EOSC AISBL) on 29 July 2020. The four founding members of the EOSC Association include the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), acting as a mandated organisation. The EOSC Association will ensure collaboration among stakeholders interested in contributing to the EOSC (funding agencies, research organisations, users and service providers).
