The ESRF is a “supermicroscope” that allows to unravel the most intimate details of the subject to address scientific and technical research in various fields: biology, chemistry, medicine, geology, physics, cultural heritage, materials science or environment.
The ESRF is constituted in the form of a French civil society whose partners are the signatory countries of its founding convention, formalized in 1988. Spain is a founding partner of this European installation, with a 4% stake in the company’s capital. Thanks to this, Spanish scientists are entitled to the experimentation time available on their 52 beam lines.
The BM25 line, entirely Spanish, was built in the facilities of the ESRF to increase the time of experimentation available to the entire scientific community. For this, the formula called Collaborating Research Group was chosen. This line is dedicated to experiments in hard condensed matter.
