The functions of the Equality Unit are regulated in article 77 of Organic Law 3/2007, of March 22, and article 3.2 of Royal Decree 259/2019, of April 12, and are as follows:
- To collect the statistical information prepared by the Ministry ' s bodies and to advise them on its preparation.
- Prepare studies with the purpose of promoting equality between women and men in the areas of activity of the Department.
- Advise the competent bodies of the Department in the preparation of the gender impact report.
- Promote knowledge by the staff of the Department of the scope and meaning of the principle of equality through the formulation of proposals for training actions.
- Ensure compliance with this Law and the effective application of the principle of equality.
- Advise and propose, in their respective areas, actions or initiatives, including training, that favor the application of the principle of equal opportunities between women and men.
- Advise and coordinate the preparation, monitoring and evaluation of the Equality Plans between women and men of the General State Administration in their respective ministerial departments, as well as participate in the Technical Commission on Equal Opportunities and Treatment of Women and Men of the General Negotiating Table of the General State Administration and its working groups.
- To prepare the diagnoses, proposals and reports that are necessary and that derive from the agreements adopted by the Technical Commission on Equality, which were required by the General Directorate of the Public Service.
- Coordinate the collection of information for the elaboration, monitoring and evaluation of the management or strategic plans for equality in their respective ministerial department.
- To gather information on the implementation of the protocol against sexual harassment and sexual harassment in their respective ministerial departments, as well as to develop the actions assigned to them in that protocol.
- Perform other advisory, reporting and monitoring functions assigned to him in relation to the principle of equal treatment and opportunities in general.
- To make an annual report on the public policies of equality carried out by its ministerial department and on the actions developed by the Unit.
