Spanish R&D&I strategy in Artificial Intelligence
The National Artificial Intelligence Strategy aims to align national policies aimed at promoting the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) in Spain, increasing investment, strengthening excellence in AI technologies and applications, and strengthening collaboration between the public and private sector, so that it has a significant impact on Spanish society and economy.
This strategy aims to be a meeting point between the demands of all stakeholders, reconciling the concerns of the scientific community, industry, civil society and the most vulnerable communities, but above all it seeks to understand and prevent the implications of the rapid introduction of AI in basic social areas.
The Skills Map contains information on entities that research, develop, use or provide services with AI technologies in Spain. This map aims to promote synergies between Spanish entities and open a path of European and international collaboration, identifying and visualizing Spanish strengths in this area. This map will be updated with the presence of new AI-related agencies.
The map shows the characteristics of the entities that develop or incorporate AI services, the technologies that are developed by the entities of the Spanish AI ecosystem, as well as data that affect other government policies, such as gender balance in AI entities.
More than 200 contributions have been received from the public and private sectors to develop it. These contributions have been provided by universities, public research bodies, technology centres, SMEs and large companies, banks, consultants, insurers, municipalities and associations. When the information received from an institution has been provided in terms of more basic equipment or subunits, it has been added with the aim of visually highlighting the lines with greater critical mass.
The final result is on a map with 154 effective entities, which constitutes the first letter of presentation of the development and use of artificial intelligence in Spain. A tool that allows to recognize those priority areas for the investment of public policies and for the private sector.
