The reform of the Law of Science also has among its main objectives to protect the personnel working in the field of R+D+I with more labor rights and the reduction of precariousness in their careers. In line with the labor reform, an indefinite contract is created for scientists and technical and management personnel associated with research lines.
The reform also creates a new, clearer postdoctoral scientific pathway, which seeks to reduce the age of entry into the system by modifying the postdoctoral access contract and facilitating stability. The compensation for the completion of predoctoral and postdoctoral contracts is incorporated for the first time, also for the contracts in force.
The standard defines a career for technical staff that will also benefit from the mobility of research staff. It recognizes and rewards for the first time the figure of technologist or technologist in the Public System of Science, Technology and Innovation.
In addition, the attraction of talent and the mobility of research staff is promoted through the five years of research, which will recognize all the merits of research in the public sector and in universities, both in Spain and abroad. The contract of the distinguished researcher is also redefined to attract prestigious scientists and scientists, or to encourage the return of those researchers who were forced to leave our country as a result of the economic recession.
The regulation improves the conditions of healthcare personnel, who will be able to devote at least fifty percent of their regular working day to research functions. In this way they are recognized as research personnel of the Science System, being able to have a professional career based on their merits. In addition, the public administrations are sent to incorporate researchers into the National Health System with specific categories in a stable manner.
