The Science and Innovation Choque Plan, presented on 9 July 2020, aims to help science and innovation lead solutions to the COVID-19 crisis, while also enabling the generation of competitive, high value-added industries and companies.
The plan includes 17 measures around three lines of action:
- Research and innovation in health.
- The transformation of the science system and the attraction of talent.
- The promotion of business R&D&I and the science industry.
This Science and Innovation Choque Plan includes investments amounting to €1.056 billion, of which €396.1 million are mobilised this year and the rest in 2021. The budget will be channelled through direct grants for the science and innovation system, both for scientific institutions and R&D&I in strategic business sectors. This investment is in addition to the €508 million in loans granted with advantageous conditions to innovative companies from the new instruments for promoting private R&D&I.
