The COS is a scientific-technical facility equipped with state-of-the-art metabolomics and proteomics technologies, as well as transcriptomics, genomics and biomarker validation technologies.
The Centre for Omic Sciences is owned by the Rovira i Virgili University and managed by the Technological Centre for Nutrition and Health. It offers scientific advice and technical support for the comprehensive application of omics technologies to the new challenges of the life sciences.
By integrating multiple metabolomics and proteomics technologies in a single facility, it is possible to use the most suitable technologies, or a combination of these, to determine metabolic profiling. Non-targeted metabolomics methodologies make it possible to test hypotheses and investigate the biochemical mechanisms involved, using complementary omics technologies such as genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics and validating them in vitro, in vivo and in humans.
The COS uses these technologies to improve knowledge and innovative applications in the health, animal and human food, pharmaceutical and environmental sectors.
