CENIEH is a public consortium co-financed equally by the General Administration of the State and the Junta de Castilla y León, based in Burgos.
The CENIEH is responsible for the management and conservation of paleontological and archaeological collections from the excavations of Atapuerca and other deposits, national or international, of similar characteristics that reach agreements with the Center.
Its laboratories, considered essential infrastructures and which give it its uniqueness as ICTS, are grouped into three thematic areas:
Area of sedimentology and characterization of materials,
geochronology area,
Area of collections, conservation and restoration.
