Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) - Finis Terrae

The Supercomputing Center of Galicia (CESGA) is an institution co-participated by the Xunta de Galicia and the CSIC. Since its establishment in 1993, CESGA has been tasked with contributing to the advancement of science and technology through research and application of high-performance computing and communications, as well as other information technology resources, in collaboration with other institutions, for the benefit of society.

The CESGA has been hosting the Finis Terrae supercomputer since 2008, with 2,400 processors and 14.01 Tflops/s, is in the process of renewal and expects to reach a capacity of more than 300 Tflops/s during 2015.Finis Terrae is a constellation-type supercomputer made up of two subsystems: a computer system and an online mass storage system, both essential to perform their function correctly. The number of scientific areas that can benefit from using a supercomputer like Finis Terrae is very extensive.

The CESGA also has other computing platforms of the grid and cloud type, and develops other areas of activity such as advanced communications, collaborative tools, transfer to industry, or GIS.

Finis Terrae provides the RES with 20% of its computing power.
