How to perform the official translation in Spain?

Through a sworn translator appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.

You can consult the list of sworn translators in Translator - Interpreter Jury (exteriores.gob.es).

What other options are there?

Translations made by an official translator in a country of the European Union are valid.

In the case of a translation carried out by an official translator outside the Community, it is required that the translator’s signature be duly legalised.

  • It is necessary to present the complete translation, as well as the original documents.
  • The official translation must include the legalizations.
  • When it comes to documents written entirely in two languages, it is only necessary to present the Spanish translation of one of them.
  • The translations do not have an expiration date.
