The identification and regionalization of the agents of the design system, both of the supply (designers, schools and research) and of the demand (users, support and promotion) including actors such as administrations responsible for the development of policies in design and financing instruments, are reflected in the form of a map in a dynamic platform designed for consultation and exploitation of data. This information can be updated to ensure that it is a true reflection of the reality of design in Spain. Through this map of actors and initiatives in the different Autonomous Communities and a repository of relevant publications on the sector and its economic and social impact, this platform is a knowledge base for those companies, entities, professionals or researchers, who have an interest in knowing better the Spanish design sector, which allows to give visibility to the design collective and highlight its potential as a tractor of innovation and competitiveness.
The Design Ecosystem in Spain is a platform promoted by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities in response to the requests of the sector and which is oriented to the definition, characterization, dimensioning and positioning of the design collective against other sectors of the economy.
This ambitious initiative is the result of an unprecedented coordination and teamwork effort between associations, professional associations and promotion centres. Their support has been essential to reach the companies and self-employed dedicated to design and collect the data that have given content to this platform. The contribution of these entities is the best guarantee of the quality and impact that this initiative pursues, and that aims only to contribute to strengthening the professional and social perception of the design collective.
